An exciting new concept has been launched in Cardiff city centre by Office Image. In collaboration with Interface, the world’s leading carpet tile manufacturer, a pop-up showroom has been created in the historic Castle Arcade.
Interface approached Office Image to partner with them on a concept to create a temporary showroom for floor coverings and office interiors within the South Wales area. The project needed to be designed to encourage creativity and promote British manufacturing with sustainability and recycling in mind.
Various other strategic suppliers were eager to partner Office Image and Interface to showcase their products in interesting and ground-breaking ways. These partners included Boss Design, Artworks of Bristol, James Tobias, and Sven Christiansen amongst others.
Project Designer, Huw Jones, wanted to show everyday office furniture in different settings to generate talking points. He also designed the space to embrace regeneration of disused and unloved spaces, in this case transforming them into imaginative, inspirational environments with the purpose of challenging outmoded perceptions, encouraging debate and ultimately creating a great space to work and play.
The launch event created a frenzy of activity and buzz within the design and specifying community, with people travelling from all over the UK to be a part of the start of (what we hope to be) a revolution.
The showroom was officially opened by the Welsh Rugby star Jamie Roberts, who also hosted a Q&A session in the showroom.
Over the next 2 months, we and Interface will be hosting a whole series of events, both knowledge based and the downright playful. Please contact us to ensure you don’t miss out.
Update - After 2 successful months, the pop-up showroom has now closed its doors. Both Office Image and Interface would like to send out our heartfelt thanks to everyone who was involved.
